As a comprehensive publiclibrary, the Library of Shijingshan District consists of two separate parts,one is for adult readers which is located at 2, Bajiao Nanlu (Bajiao SouthRoad), and the other for children located at 11, Gucheng Nanlu (Gucheng SouthRoad). Now, a component of "One-Card-Through" book circulation systemof Beijing public libraries, a member of Capital Library Alliance (CLA), and Shijingshan branch of theNational Cultural Information Resource Sharing Project in Beijing, the Libraryof Shijingshan District has been rated by the Ministry of Culture (present-dayMinistry of Culture and Tourism) in 2017 as a national first class publiclibrary. The Library has also enjoyed great honors in successive years as anadvanced collective of the national cultural system,a Beijing Model Unit for Advance Culture and Ideology,as well as Top10 Picture Book Library and MostBeautiful Picture Book Library at national level.
Pursuing all along theprinciple of “Reader First, Service Upmost”, the Library of ShijingshanDistrict has played a fundamental role in ensuring readers’basic culturalrights, satisfying readers’ basic cultural demands, and improving cultural softpower in the district. With its excellent facilities, the Library providesreaders with easy and comfortable access to services like books borrowing andreading, documents query, reading guidance, and e-reading. Meanwhile, theLibrary has taken a leading role in cultivating and practicing core values ofsocialism so as to advocate the fine traditional Chinese culture and carryforward the red genes of the Party and the nation. The Library innovates itsservice consciousness, concordances various social resources, and explores waysand means of integrating culture and technology, merging high-end and balanced,equitable and inclusive cultural developments. The Library has also developedtheir own practical cultural bands and hold some widely-acclaimed activities,such as Shijingshan Library Forum, Little Bookworm Club, Little CulturalVolunteers, and Enjoyable Reading Express.
In an effort for an advanced district cultural service system, theLibrary has committed itself in developing the Central and Branch LibrarySystem. Up to now, it has set up 9 branch libraries in all sub-districtcommunities, not only realizing interlibrary loan and return of books acrossthe district, but also providing satisfying training and guidance services.
